Dementia care

At Tavy Care we recognise that caring for loved ones with dementia can be a challenging and difficult task It is also a task that many families undertake completely on their own .

It can be exhausting for anyone caring for their loved one 24/7 as well as difficult to watch your loved one change and gradually and decline.  Many people automatically take of the role of “carer” for their loved one at home. This is because they want the best for them, feel they have a duty to ensure their care and comfort, and because they love them.

This 24/7 carer role can be both physically and emotionally challenging leaving many people not sure if they can get any help or where they can go for help.

Good dementia care and support is vital to our local community.   We are lucky enough to have a fantastic support group in the local memory café for people and their families to access and also access to an admiral nurse who can be accessed via the GP .There is information and support available online with Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline - Dementia UK.

The team at Tavy care support many individuals and their families who are living with dementia.

The management team at Tavy Care have many years’ experiences of working with people with many different types of dementia in various settings. In addition to this, many of them also have personal experience from caring for their own loved ones with dementia. This enables them to support people and lead the team in dementia care from both professional and personal experience.

Our Community Care Practitioners are all trained in dementia care as part of their induction. Caring for people with various types of dementia is an integral part of our work , therefore understanding the complexities around it is also something that always has to be considered with providing support to individuals and their families .

We understand that there are no two people with dementia that present in the same way. Our experience working with different individuals has shown us the vast differences between different types of dementia and how everyone present.

In conjunction with our understanding of Dementia care we also recognise that people are individuals and that understanding their diverse lives and history as well as their individual needs wishes and preferences are integral to providing a person centred and bespoke package of care and support .
